What makes a teacher great?
“One who never stepped into deep waters wouldn’t ever know what being shallow means, One who never stepped into the shoes of a student/disciple would never know what failure/tests would mean. There is only One Great Teacher and we all come from Him. Some call Him God, some address Him as Nature, others call Him as Energy, Many call Him Creator, Almighty, Universe and so on. He who lead by example; He who lived the life of a Student, a faithful disciple – is the Only Great Teacher.”
Life gifts us two ‘C’ s – CHOICE & CHANCE. Some are Teachers, Doctors, Architects, Artists, Lawyers by CHANCE while a few become what they want by CHOICE. Choice comes from a strong calling that one has in life to become what they’ve been brought into this world for.
Such Choices once made leads one to surrender each day into passionate labour towards setting an example through the choice they make. The absolute same reasoning works when it comes to the Noblest of all Professions – Teaching. Though this word isn’t very suited for humans yet the world has been injecting this terminology into the field of Human Resource and Labour force.
Let’s try and change perspective a bit by replacing the word Teacher with Co- learner; this also gives us ground to think without Ego- without the Self. The word Teacher belongs to Only One Divine Master. We are all life long learner’s. The word Co-learner helps each one of us to understand that we are co-inhabitants and that one cannot survive without the other. We learn all throughout our lives, share our learning’s and experiences as we travel, acquire more knowledge, also simultaneously share what we gain and evolve into a powerful resource for the world to be a better place each day.
When we look at the world around from the perspective of a co-learner, we are more grounded, humble and ready to receive what the Universe has to offer us. We then also learn to empty ourselves every new morning for God to fill us with His wisdom.
Thus, great minds are the ones who know that they know nothing and there is much to explore, much to learn. The hunger and zest for learning never stops for a Co-learner and that’s what makes them different.
Be with them, hold their hands, touch their heart with your gentle care, give them your attention and ear not once or twice but 70*7 times, let them see themselves in you and above all, never judge them- those who come to you with a heart full of hope, a mind burdened, tender hands and pure souls, Let the Teacher in you never create a wall that becomes a barrier, instead, Let the Great Master’s faithful servant become a Co-learner who wears a gaberdine of Humility, banishing all those walls, opening doors and windows for love and life to flow all around.
